Hello Students!
I'm Will Mittendorf, and I'll be your instructor this semester.
Welcome to the class!
You may be feeling a bit nervous about taking a philosophy class, but, no worries, I'm here to help walk you through the field. The purpose of philosophy is really to do two things: make arguments and clarify concepts.
In this Intro course, we will look at three main branches of philosophy: Ethics, Epistemology, and Metaphysics. Each week we will cover a different thinker and theory. For example, we will study what makes an action right or wrong, whether robots can think, and how you know the world is real (and not a dream!).
By the end of the course you should have a good grasp on the basics of philosophy and be able to discuss and make arguments about various philosophical concepts.
I'm looking forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Will
